Due to a miscommunication I need to apologize for a negative review I left. Hep didn't call codes, but I imagine that codes inspector is working himself to the bone, and instead of hearing "rough-in inspection" I heard "complaint" and I am so very sorry I was so reactive. It's been over a year since the work was done and we've had zero leaks! Job well done y'all!

Olin, Chris & the whole staff of HEP are wonderful, friendly & knowledgeable people. Olin, the Product Specialist who came to our home, was very thorough when he inspected our roof & wrote up our work order/proposal. He patiently answered our questions & explained in great detail the work that needed to be done. My Husband & I feel very valued as this company’s customers! I believe we are getting a great service at a reasonable cost. We are looking forward to getting our roof replaced in the coming week! We have had our Water Heater replaced & a small repair done in the past with HEP. We strongly recommend this great company!!

FAQs

What roofing materials are best suited for homes in Tellico Plains, TN?

Because Tellico Plains experiences humid summers, occasional heavy rainfall, and the possibility of high winds from severe storms, durable and moisture-resistant products are recommended. Architectural asphalt shingles remain the most popular because they balance cost and longevity (20–30 years). Metal roofing—especially standing-seam steel or aluminum—is also common here, offering 40–70 years of service life, excellent wind resistance, and energy efficiency that helps keep attics cooler in the summer.

How do I know whether my roof needs repair or full replacement?

Look for curled or missing shingles, granule loss, soft or spongy decking, interior water stains, or daylight showing through attic boards. If more than 25–30 % of the roof surface is damaged, or the roof is approaching the end of its life span (15–20 years for basic 3-tab shingles; 40+ years for metal), a full replacement is usually more cost-effective than repeated spot repairs. We offer free inspections in Tellico Plains to give you a precise assessment.

What is the average cost of a roof replacement in Tellico Plains?

Prices vary with size, pitch, and material. As a general guide, asphalt shingle replacements typically range from $4.50 to $7.50 per square foot installed, while metal roofing ranges from $8 to $13 per square foot. A 2,000-square-foot asphalt shingle roof would run about $9,000–$15,000. We provide detailed written estimates after an on-site measurement so you know exactly what to expect.

Do I need a building permit for roof work in Tellico Plains?

Yes. Monroe County requires a building permit for roof replacements and significant structural repairs. Our team handles the permit application, pays the associated fees, and schedules any required inspections, so you don’t have to navigate the paperwork yourself.

Can you help with insurance claims for storm damage?

Absolutely. If your Tellico Plains home has hail, wind, or fallen-tree damage, we’ll document the loss with photos, meet with your adjuster, and provide the detailed scope of work your insurer needs. While we can’t guarantee claim approval, our thorough documentation and knowledge of insurance processes often speed up settlements and ensure you receive fair compensation.

How long will my roofing project take, and what should I expect during installation?

Most standard asphalt shingle replacements on homes under 3,000 square feet are completed in 1–2 days, while metal roofs may take 3–4 days. We start by protecting landscaping and removing old materials. Next, we repair any damaged decking, install underlayment and flashing, then lay the new roofing. Daily site clean-ups and a final magnetic sweep for nails ensure your property is left spotless. Weather permitting, we’ll stay on schedule and keep you updated at every step.
