Due to a miscommunication I need to apologize for a negative review I left. Hep didn't call codes, but I imagine that codes inspector is working himself to the bone, and instead of hearing "rough-in inspection" I heard "complaint" and I am so very sorry I was so reactive. It's been over a year since the work was done and we've had zero leaks! Job well done y'all!

FAQs

What roofing materials work best in Jonesborough’s climate?

Jonesborough experiences hot, humid summers, occasional high winds, and the possibility of winter ice. Architectural asphalt shingles are the most popular because they balance cost, durability (20-30 years), and wind resistance. Metal roofing is another strong choice—standing-seam panels resist winds up to 140 mph, shed snow easily, and can last 40-60 years. For historic homes downtown, cedar shakes or synthetic slate can provide the desired look, but they require proper ventilation and periodic maintenance to handle humidity. Our estimators can explain the pros and cons of each style for your budget and home design.

How often should I have my roof inspected in Jonesborough?

We recommend a professional inspection at least once a year—preferably in the spring after winter freeze-thaw cycles. You should also schedule an inspection after any severe weather event with hail or wind gusts above 50 mph. Routine inspections catch loose shingles, nail pops, flashing gaps, and early moisture intrusion before they become leaks, saving you money on emergency repairs.

Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Jonesborough, TN?

Yes. Washington County requires a building permit for any complete roof replacement and for structural repairs (decking, rafters). As your contractor, we handle all permitting paperwork, fees, and compliance with the International Residential Code (IRC). Re-roofing without a permit can delay insurance claims and trigger fines, so it’s best to leave the process to a licensed roofer familiar with county regulations.

How can I tell if my roof has storm damage?

Inside, look for new water stains on ceilings or walls and check your attic for damp insulation or daylight peeking through the decking. Outside, walk the perimeter (from the ground) and look for displaced shingles, lifted edges, granule piles in gutters, bent metal flashing, and dents in vents or gutters. If you suspect damage, call us for a free, no-obligation inspection. We document issues with photos and can meet your insurance adjuster to streamline the claim.

What is the typical timeline for a roof replacement project?

A standard asphalt-shingle replacement on an average 2,000-sq-ft Jonesborough home usually takes 1–2 days, including tear-off, deck repair, underlayment, shingle installation, and full clean-up. Metal or specialty roofs may require 3–5 days due to custom fabrication and extra fastening. Weather delays are factored into our schedule, and we always protect exposed areas with tarps if rain moves in unexpectedly.

Are there energy-efficient roofing options available?

Absolutely. ENERGY STAR-rated “cool” asphalt shingles in lighter colors reflect more UV rays, reducing attic temperatures by up to 20 °F. Standing-seam metal roofs with high-reflectivity paint or granular coatings provide even greater energy savings and often qualify for utility rebates. Adding proper attic ventilation and radiant-barrier underlayment during installation can further cut cooling costs and extend shingle life.
