HEP came to my house in Lenoir City to repair (put back in place) some vinyl soffit pieces on the roof over hang. I had several of these around the house and most were high off the ground. Stephen Lemoine was EXCELLENT. Stephen was knowledgeable, courteous, completed the repair in less time than I expected, and gave me additional needed information without trying to over sell. The pricing was fair. I would recommend HEP and Stephen in particular. By the way, it was maybe the hottest day of the year but Stephen didn't let that hinder the work.🙂

The service was very fast. We had a technician out to check our furnace and he kindly informed us they no longer make the parts that we would need, which is understandable as the unit was manufactured in 1997. They were able to get a team out the very next day to install a new HVAC unit and furnace, these gentlemen worked extremely hard from daylight to dark finally finishing up around 9 PM. They had everything up and running and we’re so quiet and thorough. I barely knew they were there! We did have an issue with the unit cooling after start up. I called the following morning and had a technician out within a few hours that fixed the issue. Overall, the entire process was extremely easy, fast, and thorough. We have a roofing project to begin next week with this company as well and only expect great things going forward!

Spoke with Jason and was very happy. This was an estimate for roofing repairs, Jason was very polite and professional. He took the time to point out any issues he found and had a valid explanation for each concern. Jason answered all my questions and I feel he was honest and didn't sugar coat or inflate any concern. We have used Hep in the past for plumbing and was happy with that too. We have another estimate to get but its going to be hard to be the confidence I feel in Jason after our talk. We had some interior ceiling repair also by Tom and Jimmy, excellent job. Impressed with the texture matching.

José is the man of the month. Kind friendly thorough. We were on the struggle bus to get repairs done properly by other companies before calling Hep. José was here next day & had all 3 major issues repaired in hours . Mind you it is mid july & miserable out . He had the best attitude. We will be requesting him again for our next property restoration project! Thank you! HEP has earned our future business as well.

The Importance of Quality Roofing in Newport’s Coastal Climate

Newport’s distinctive maritime location offers scenic views, brisk sea breezes, and a lifestyle that blends historic charm with modern living. Yet the same coastal beauty that draws residents to the area also exposes every structure to intense environmental stresses. Roofs in Newport must stand up to:

  • Salt-laden air that accelerates corrosion
  • High winds that can pry up shingles, flashings, and ridge caps
  • Heavy, wind-driven rain capable of forcing water beneath roof coverings
  • Sudden temperature swings that expand and contract roofing materials
  • Prolonged ultraviolet exposure during bright summer days

A compromised roof in this environment invites leaks, mold, structural deterioration, and a cascade of expensive repairs. For homeowners and property managers alike, the best defense is a comprehensive roofing system installed to rigorous standards—roofing done right the first time.

Introducing HEP: Roofing Done Right

HEP has forged its reputation across Newport by blending meticulous craftsmanship with technology-driven solutions. The company’s guiding principle—Roofing Done Right—reflects a commitment to precision at every phase of a project. By aligning workmanship, premium materials, and proactive client education, HEP creates roofing systems that protect, perform, and add intrinsic value to each property they serve.

Key pillars of the HEP approach include:

  • Stringent project planning anchored in data-rich inspections
  • Clear, jargon-free explanations of material choices and construction steps
  • Strict adherence to national and local building codes, with additional internal quality benchmarks
  • On-site crew supervisors empowered to halt work if any standard is not met

Comprehensive Roofing Services Tailored to Newport Homes

Every roof sits atop a unique architectural envelope shaped by age, style, and prior repairs. HEP offers an integrated suite of services designed to address these variables with precision.

  • Complete tear-offs and new installations
  • Protective roof overlays where code and roof condition allow
  • Structural decking repairs and replacements
  • Custom flashing fabrication for chimneys, dormers, and skylights
  • Ventilation upgrades to balance attic airflow
  • Insulation enhancements that support energy efficiency
  • Seamless gutter and downspout integration
  • Storm response repairs and emergency mitigation

Roof Inspections Built on Precision

HEP technicians employ drones, infrared scanners, and moisture meters to capture data invisible to the naked eye. This technology unearths hidden leaks, insulation voids, and structural weakness before they escalate.

Material Selection for Long-Term Performance

Each roofing proposal outlines multiple material options, complete with life-cycle costs, projected maintenance demands, and environmental fit. Clients can make informed decisions while accounting for Newport’s harsh coastal conditions.

Installation Techniques That Set the Standard

From six-nail fastening patterns on asphalt shingles to hemmed edges on metal panels, HEP crews follow manufacturer-specified details that many installers overlook. These small but critical differences deliver big dividends in durability.

Roofing Done Right: The HEP Methodology

At the heart of every project lies a structured process that eliminates guesswork.

  • Thorough assessment of existing roof and attic spaces
  • Detailed project plan outlining timelines, crew assignments, and safety measures
  • Coordination with neighbors and homeowners’ associations when required
  • Frequent progress updates supported by photo documentation
  • Post-installation walk-through to ensure alignment with client expectations

Assessment and Planning

No two roofs age alike. HEP roof analysts examine decking integrity, ventilation pathways, flashing condition, and fastener corrosion. Findings funnel into a tailored scope of work that sets the stage for success.

Preparation and Safety

Before the first shingle is removed, the crew erects perimeter fall-prevention systems, covers landscaping, and stages materials to minimize property disruption.

Craftsmanship and Oversight

Lead installers maintain a strict checklist: starter courses aligned, underlayment lapped and sealed, flashings counterflashed, ridges ventilated. A dedicated project manager inspects milestones to verify compliance.

Clean Up and Final Verification

When installation concludes, magnetic rollers sweep the perimeter for stray nails, and drones capture aerial imagery for recordkeeping. Clients receive a digital folder containing warranties, care guidelines, and before-and-after imagery.

Materials That Stand Up to Newport’s Coastal Environment

Not all roofing products withstand salt spray, gale-force winds, and relentless sun. HEP sources materials engineered for coastal resilience.

Asphalt Shingles Treated for Salt Air

Modern asphalt shingles infused with polymer-modified asphalt and copper granules combat algae bloom and UV degradation. Enhanced nailing zones resist 130-mph wind ratings—ideal for Newport’s gusty seasons.

Standing Seam Metal for Storm Resistance

Galvalume-coated steel panels with concealed fasteners deliver superior uplift protection. Factory-applied Kynar finishes maintain color vibrancy, while interlocking seams shed rain swiftly.

Slate for Heritage Properties

Natural slate lends old-world elegance and a century-long lifespan. HEP artisans hand-cut and pre-drill slate tiles to fit intricate rooflines prevalent in Newport’s historic neighborhoods.

Single-Ply Membranes for Flat Roofs

TPO and PVC membranes reflect solar radiation, reducing cooling loads. Hot-air welded seams form a continuous waterproof barrier across low-slope decks.

Green Roofing for Energy Efficiency

Engineered growth media, drainage mats, and root-resistant membranes merge to create living roofs that absorb stormwater, insulate interiors, and soften the urban heat island effect.

Preventative Maintenance Programs by HEP

A new roof’s longevity hinges on scheduled upkeep. HEP’s maintenance plans extend service life and preserve warranty coverage.

Scheduled Inspections

Semi-annual visits align with seasonal transitions. Crews search for displaced shingles, cracked sealant, and clogged gutters.

Gutter and Drainage Management

Debris removal, downspout flushing, and gutter hanger checks ensure runoff exits the roof quickly, preventing fascia rot.

Flashing and Sealant Refresh

Chimney lead step flashings, skylight boots, and pipe collars are resealed before weather intrusion begins.

Storm Damage Readiness

HEP catalogs roof conditions before hurricane season, creating a reference for rapid post-storm assessments and insurance documentation.

The Role of Ventilation and Insulation in Lasting Roof Performance

Balanced airflow and robust insulation form an invisible alliance against moisture damage and energy waste.

Balanced Attic Ventilation

Intake vents along soffits pair with exhaust vents at ridges, drawing cool air upward and expelling heat and humidity.

High-Performance Insulation

Blown-in cellulose or rigid foam board raises R-values, stabilizing interior temperatures and reducing HVAC strain.

Moisture Control Strategies

Air barriers, vapor retarders, and proper attic sealing thwart condensation that can delaminate decking and foster mold growth.

Benefits of an optimized ventilation-insulation package include:

  • Reduced energy bills year-round
  • Extended shingle life by lowering deck temperatures
  • Prevention of ice dams during sudden cold snaps
  • Improved indoor comfort and air quality

Energy Efficiency and Sustainability on Newport Roofs

As energy codes evolve, HEP integrates sustainable solutions without compromising performance.

Cool Roof Technologies

High-albedo coatings and reflective membranes bounce solar radiation, cutting cooling costs and mitigating urban heat.

Solar-Ready Roof Designs

HEP installs reinforced trusses, pre-wired conduits, and strategically located penetrations to facilitate future photovoltaic arrays.

Recyclable Materials

Steel, aluminum, and certain asphalt shingles can be reclaimed at end-of-life, minimizing landfill impact and supporting circular economies.

Safety-First Culture on Every HEP Roofing Project

A truly “done right” roof prioritizes the well-being of both crew and occupants.

Training and Certification

All installers hold OSHA 10 or 30 credentials, along with manufacturer training for every system HEP offers.

Equipment Standards

Harnesses, guardrails, and static lines undergo regular inspection, while aerial lifts receive scheduled maintenance logs.

Site Protocols

Daily safety briefings, clear signage, and debris containment measures protect residents, pets, and passersby.

Addressing Common Roofing Issues in Newport

HEP’s local expertise equips crews to tackle regional challenges head-on.

Wind Uplift and Salt Spray

Enhanced fastening patterns, oversized nail heads, and corrosion-resistant flashings prevent blow-offs and premature rust.

Moss and Algae Growth

Zinc or copper strips at ridge lines release ions that inhibit biological growth, safeguarding shingle integrity.

Flashing Failures Around Chimneys and Dormers

Custom-bent step flashings married with counterflashing systems create watertight seals against driving rain.

Ice Dams During Coastal Cold Snaps

Continuous ventilation, proper insulation, and self-adhering underlayment at eaves thwart ice dam formation even in brief winter freezes.

Warranty Coverage and Post-Installation Support

Durability is more than a promise; it is a documented guarantee backed by robust coverage.

Manufacturer Partnerships

HEP’s status as a certified installer allows clients to access extended manufacturer warranties unavailable to the general market.

Workmanship Assurance

A multi-year craftsmanship warranty covers labor, ensuring any installation defect is remedied at no cost.

Ongoing Support Inspections

Annual follow-ups verify roof performance, update maintenance logs, and keep warranty terms in force.

How HEP Enhances Curb Appeal and Property Value

Beyond defense against the elements, a well-crafted roof elevates a property’s aesthetics and market worth.

Colour Matching and Architectural Harmony

Advanced design software previews color blends against existing brick, siding, and trim, ensuring cohesive curb appeal.

Upgrades for Modern Aesthetics

Designer shingles that mimic cedar shake, metal panels in matte finishes, and low-profile ridge vents refresh the exterior while remaining code-compliant.

Integration with Gutters and Fascia Systems

Coordinated fascia cladding, soffit panels, and seamless gutters create clean lines that frame the new roof, reinforcing a polished look and adding overall value.

Integrated Skylight and Solar Tube Solutions

Natural daylight transforms interior spaces, reducing reliance on artificial lighting while creating a healthier living environment. HEP incorporates skylights and solar tubes into new roofing systems without compromising weather resistance.

Precision Flashing for Leak Prevention

Custom-fabricated flashing kits envelope skylight curbs and solar tube domes, forming a water-tight shield that channels runoff onto the primary roof surface rather than beneath it.

Energy and Wellness Benefits

  • Enhanced circadian rhythm support through balanced daylight
  • Lower electrical consumption by maximizing sunlight
  • Passive solar heat gain during cooler months, offsetting heating loads

Design Flexibility

HEP offers fixed, venting, and remotely controlled skylight models, tailoring glazing options—such as tempered, laminated, or Low-E glass—to match performance goals and safety codes specific to Newport structures.

Storm Preparedness and Rapid Response Techniques

Coastal storms can strike Newport with little warning, making pre-emptive action essential. HEP pairs proactive planning with swift deployment capabilities.

Pre-Storm Fortification

  • Reinforcement of vulnerable ridge caps and hip shingles
  • Application of storm-rated sealant to critical flashing joints
  • Securing of loose gutters and downspouts to avoid wind-driven detachment

Emergency Tarping Strategies

Should storm damage occur, crews arrive with heavy-duty reinforced tarps, battens, and anchor boards to create temporary barriers that divert rain until permanent repairs commence.

Insurance Documentation Support

Drone imagery and moisture mapping reports generated immediately after a storm provide clear, timestamped evidence that streamlines insurer assessments and accelerates claims processing.

Recognizing Early Warning Signs of Roof Distress

Intervening early often saves thousands in repair costs and protects interior finishes from moisture infiltration.

Visual Red Flags

  • Curling or cupped shingles along sun-facing slopes
  • Granule accumulation in gutters, indicating surface wear
  • Rust streaks emanating from metal flashings or fasteners

Attic Indicators

Moisture stains on rafters, damp insulation, or a musty odor signal inadequate ventilation or active leaks.

Performance Changes

Unexpected spikes in energy bills, inconsistent indoor temperatures, or drafty upper floors can point to compromised roof insulation or air sealing, both of which HEP’s assessment teams can rectify alongside roof repairs.

By educating property owners on these telltale signs, HEP empowers them to act promptly, ensuring the principle of Roofing Done Right extends beyond installation to the entire lifespan of the roof.
