What our customers say

HEP is by far one of the best companies, of any kind, I've ever dealt with. We've had HEP replace our HVAC system and just signed contracts with them for some major plumbing repair and a new roof. In our experience with HEP, we've found that they do everything, and they do everything really well. Which is great for us because we don't have to waste any time going through the giant pain process of finding contractors and then finding out if we can trust them. With HEP, the whole experience is like working with your brothers and sisters. Everyone we've met has gone out of their way to make us feel like we're part of their family. To me, the kind of quality service you get from that kind of a business relationship is worth its weight in gold. Thank you, HEP!

We called Hep for a leaking roof. They were quick to respond and when they came out took photos to show us what needed to be done. The mgr. who had come out to evaluate the job came back to ensure everything he told us was to be done would be done. He checked out the job and we felt secure knowing everything was checked on to have been done correctly and what wasn't was redone right. Would definately reccommend Hep for roof work.

UPDATING THIS REVIEW** Will turned out to be even better than I originally noted. He returned to inform me that my new roof was put down without removing any of the boards below it -- so turned out my problem wasn't related to the roofing job, and in that case, it was going to need to be something I resolved. Since my roof is under warranty, nobody else could fix the problem except for HEP without voiding my warranty. I'm a working, single mom and this year has been so expensive due to home repairs and such. Financially, it's a struggle. Due to being overwhelmed by the news of having yet ANOTHER repair I need to come out of pocket for -- knowing that I really don't have much money to fork out in one sitting -- I honestly got a little emotional. Will proceeded to reach out to get a price for me, and as I expected, the price was more than I had. I inquired about adding the balance to my current finance agreement, but since it had been over 60 days -- that wasn't possible. So I told Will I wouldn't be able to do it. I expected him to basically say okay & leave, but he persisted trying to find an option that was going to work for me. He reached out to another guy (a boss or management of some type, I think), and on my behalf, pleaded for an option. They were able to work something out for me & it really meant a lot to have him persist like that. I definitely appreciate Will (and the management individual that has dealt with me at my worst multiple times now). Definitely have a better overall view of HEP as a whole now. I didn't feel like I was being taken advantage of. I didn't feel like I was being sold something because I didn't know any better. It felt like a real human experience, and I definitely am appreciative!

We (Leroy and Helen Queen, my parents) had our leaky roof replaced by HEP at the end of July 2019. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish: from Joshua who recommended HEP for our roofing needs, to Jason our Sales Rep who measured and then inspected the finished work, to Chris in the office who helped us with the financing, to the crew of men that came out and did a marvelous job removing, installing, and then tidying up afterwards. We were mightily impressed; they worked so quickly. We highly recommend giving HEP a call for your roofing needs based on our own experience with them. They all worked really hard and quickly to get us a new roof; something we very greatly appreciate. Thanks HEP!

Expert Roof Replacement in Fountain City by HEP

Fountain City homeowners understand the importance of a reliable roof in a region where humid summers, unpredictable storms, and occasional winter freezes can all take a toll on residential properties. HEP’s dedicated roofing division specializes in comprehensive roof replacement services designed to safeguard homes, enhance curb appeal, and improve long-term energy efficiency. This detailed guide explores every aspect of HEP’s roof replacement work in Fountain City, from early warning signs and material options to the meticulous installation process and post-replacement maintenance.

Why Fountain City Homes Require Specialized Roof Replacement

Fountain City sits within a unique microclimate of East Tennessee, where frequent rainfall, fluctuating temperatures, and periodic high winds create continuous stress on roofing systems. As a result, local roofs experience accelerated wear, making specialized roof replacement an essential service. HEP’s team tailors each project to the environmental conditions, ensuring that every replacement roof is engineered for durability across all four seasons.

Key Climate Factors Affecting Roof Longevity

  • High humidity levels leading to moisture infiltration and potential mold growth
  • Intense UV exposure in summer accelerating shingle deterioration
  • Sudden temperature shifts causing thermal expansion and contraction
  • Storm gusts that loosen fasteners and compromise flashing integrity
  • Occasional snowfall contributing to ice dam formation and added weight load

Understanding these conditions allows HEP to recommend the right materials, ventilation strategies, and installation techniques for Fountain City roofs.

Recognizing the Need for Roof Replacement

Homeowners often wonder when repair work is no longer sufficient. Timely replacement prevents secondary damage to insulation, drywall, and structural components.

Visible Exterior Warning Signs

  • Curling or cupping shingles indicating loss of structural integrity
  • Bald patches where granules have worn away, exposing asphalt matting
  • Sagging roof planes suggesting deck rot or failing structural support
  • Damaged flashing around chimneys, skylights, or valleys
  • Persistent moss or algae colonies thriving on moisture-laden surfaces

Interior Red Flags

  • Water stains on ceilings or attic woodwork
  • Musty odors signaling chronic dampness
  • Light beams visible through attic boards
  • Rising energy bills due to heat escape or moisture-compromised insulation

Age Benchmarks

While material lifespans vary, many Fountain City asphalt shingle roofs require replacement at 18–22 years, sooner when previous installation quality was subpar or widespread storm events left hidden damage.

HEP’s Comprehensive Roof Replacement Process

HEP structures every roof replacement around meticulous planning, transparent communication, and strict quality control. Each step is designed to ensure minimal disruption while delivering a roof that outperforms manufacturer specifications.

1. Initial Inspection and Project Scoping

A trained HEP roofing specialist completes a multi-point evaluation of the existing roof:

  • Drone-assisted imaging to capture high-resolution photos of difficult angles
  • Moisture meter readings within decking and attic spaces
  • Ventilation effectiveness checks, including soffit, ridge, and gable airflow
  • Structural load assessment, especially in older homes

The resulting report outlines material recommendations, decking repairs, and ventilation improvements required for a code-compliant, high-performance roof.

2. Material Selection Tailored to Fountain City

HEP maintains partnerships with leading roofing manufacturers, allowing homeowners to choose from a full suite of material profiles that suit local conditions:

4. Removal of Existing Roofing

Careful tear-off preserves structural components whenever possible. Decking boards are inspected for rot, delamination, or pest damage. Any compromised sections are replaced, ensuring a solid foundation for the new system.

5. Deck Preparation and Underlayment Installation

  • Installation of leak barriers in valleys, around penetrations, and along eaves
  • Application of full-coverage synthetic underlayment for moisture defense
  • Precise alignment of starter strip shingles to combat wind lift

6. Ventilation and Flashing Upgrades

HEP views proper ventilation as a cornerstone of roof longevity. Ridge vents, intake vents, and baffles are installed or upgraded, maintaining balanced airflow that prevents heat buildup and moisture condensation. All new flashing is custom-bent on-site for a watertight seal around critical junctions.

7. Shingle, Metal, or Composite Installation

Roofing materials are laid in strict adherence to manufacturer guidelines. HEP’s certified installers use calibrated pneumatic nailers, ensuring consistent fastener placement and depth. Each course is checked for alignment, creating visually seamless rows.

8. Final Quality Assurance and Site Cleanup

Upon completion, a dedicated quality manager performs:

  • Infrared camera scans for hidden moisture pockets
  • Fastener pattern verification for warranty compliance
  • Drainage path checks ensuring unobstructed water shedding

Magnetic tools capture stray nails, and debris is removed for a spotless property.
