What our customers say

We (Leroy and Helen Queen, my parents) had our leaky roof replaced by HEP at the end of July 2019. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish: from Joshua who recommended HEP for our roofing needs, to Jason our Sales Rep who measured and then inspected the finished work, to Chris in the office who helped us with the financing, to the crew of men that came out and did a marvelous job removing, installing, and then tidying up afterwards. We were mightily impressed; they worked so quickly. We highly recommend giving HEP a call for your roofing needs based on our own experience with them. They all worked really hard and quickly to get us a new roof; something we very greatly appreciate. Thanks HEP!

Ruben was excellent when I was having drain issues. He was quick, explained everything throughly, and made sure I knew what my options were. A wonderful experience I just put an offer in on a home and wanted someone to check the place out for me and HEP was there! Not only was every technician that came out friendly, but they made sure I understood everything that was being told to me! They gave me clear and honest opinions about my AC, Roof, and electrical. They told me what was wrong, how to fix it, an approximate on how much it would be and even advice to make sure I get the most out of my repair life. I'm a first time home buyer and they made me feel confident enough about the condition of my home to be able to make a sound decision on it. I'll recommend them to everyone I know!

HEP was prompt in getting our job estimated and starting work. We had them replace a patio roof and perform some other minor repairs on the roof. They came out on Saturday, and Jason walked through everything, explaining the rationale behind his recommendations. They were exactly in line with existing recommendations from our home inspection, so I had confidence that he was giving his honest opinion and not just trying to upsell. Due to a clerical error, they removed our entire roof by accident, but replaced it at no cost. They immediately notified me when this happened and got it rectified right away. They were honest and transparent through the whole process. After the completion of the work, I notified them of a couple of punch list items and they knocked them out quickly without me having to pester or make a scene like you would with a less reputable contractor. This is the kind of contractor that you keep around. Reliable, easy to contact, responsive, and honest. I am a very independent DIYer, but if I can't do it, my first call will definitely be to HEP. . Thanks Jason and everyone at HEP.

Due to a miscommunication I need to apologize for a negative review I left. Hep didn't call codes, but I imagine that codes inspector is working himself to the bone, and instead of hearing "rough-in inspection" I heard "complaint" and I am so very sorry I was so reactive. It's been over a year since the work was done and we've had zero leaks! Job well done y'all!

We have used HEP in the past for plumbing and also some roof issues. Because of this, they offered us a free roof inspection. The tech (Tim Lawson) that came out was on time (actually a little earlier than expected), was very helpful and knowledgeable. He took his time to explain the repairs that we will be needing to our roof, offered affordable pricing and was very professional. I would recommend this company as they are fair in price and have knowledgeable, friendly , professional employees. Thanks HEP and Tim Lawson.

The Rise of Metal Roofing in Dayton

Dayton’s housing stock encompasses classic Victorian residences, sprawling suburban ranches, and modern infill construction. Across these styles, property owners are increasingly selecting metal roofing as the preferred upgrade. HEP’s specialization in metal roofing Dayton homeowners trust stems from a demand for roofing systems that stand up to Ohio’s freeze–thaw cycles, torrential summer storms, and substantial winter snow loads.

Why Metal Roofing Is Ideal for Ohio’s Climate

Dayton experiences an average of 176 days of precipitation each year, ranging from quick downpours to ice events. Conventional asphalt shingles often lose granules, curl, or blow off after repeated exposure to moisture and temperature fluctuations. A professionally installed metal roof by HEP provides:

  • Rapid shedding of rain and snow, minimizing ice dams
  • Structural rigidity against 60-plus mph wind gusts common in spring
  • Superior thermal expansion control through concealed fastener systems
  • Enhanced fire resistance, a safety advantage during lightning storms

Popular Metal Roofing Profiles in Dayton

HEP offers an array of panel designs to suit neighborhood aesthetics and HOA guidelines:

  • Standing seam metal roof Dayton residents prize for its sleek vertical ribs
  • Ribbed exposed-fastener panels ideal for barns, workshops, and detached garages
  • Stone-coated steel tiles that echo traditional shingles while delivering metal durability
  • Corrugated agricultural panels frequently selected for historical restorations

HEP’s Expertise in Metal Roofing

Standing Seam Systems

Dayton’s modern architectural builds often specify standing seam for its clean lines and energy-efficient properties. Features include:

  • Hidden fasteners sealed beneath vertical legs
  • Expansion clips that accommodate temperature swings from ‑5 °F to 95 °F
  • Optional vented nail-base insulation panels improving R-value

Benefits Homeowners Gain from HEP Metal Roofing

A metal roof is an investment designed to reward owners for decades. HEP’s installations maximize every advantage associated with advanced metal assemblies.

  • Long service life typically exceeding 50 years with minimal upkeep
  • Reflective pigments that lower attic temperatures during hot Ohio summers
  • Resistance to algae, mildew, and insect damage common to organic roofing materials
  • Higher resale value because buyers appreciate low-maintenance exteriors
  • Eco-friendly choice with recyclable content and end-of-life reclamation

Energy Efficiency and Solar Compatibility

Metal’s emissivity and reflectivity reduce heat gain. HEP often integrates photovoltaic mounting systems directly into the standing seams, eliminating roof penetrations. This synergy transforms a roof into an energy-producing asset.

Longevity and Minimal Maintenance

HEP utilizes self-cleaning coatings that shed airborne contaminants. Routine maintenance typically involves:

  • Visual inspection of flashing after extreme storms
  • Clearing roof valleys of leaves in heavily wooded Dayton neighborhoods
  • Checking sealant condition around rooftop penetrations every five years

Metal Roof Repair and Maintenance in Dayton

Even the toughest assemblies can succumb to flying debris or improper modifications done by third parties. HEP offers specialized metal roof repair Dayton homeowners rely upon for prompt, precise remediation.

Early Signs of Wear

  • Surface scratches or coating abrasion from overhanging branches
  • Sealant cracks where amateur solar installers drilled mounts
  • Panel uplift along eaves caused by insufficient fastener engagement

Professional Repair Techniques

HEP technicians restore integrity through:

  • Color-matched touch-up paints formulated for Kynar finishes
  • Replacement of damaged panels using zipper-tool seam openers to avoid full tear-offs
  • Application of butyl sealant tape and specialized rivets compatible with galvanic requirements

Enhancing Curb Appeal with Metal Roofing

A common misconception is that metal roofs only suit rural or industrial settings. HEP’s portfolio showcases the aesthetic range possible.

Color Options

Modern coil-coating lines make hundreds of hues accessible. Popular selections in Dayton include:

  • Matte black complementing contemporary architecture
  • Slate gray harmonizing with limestone facades prevalent in pre-war districts
  • Colonial red accentuating historic bungalows in the South Park neighborhood

Architectural Accents

  • Custom metal chimney caps matching roof panels
  • Snow retention bars designed to align with standing seams for discreet function
  • Integrated gutters and downspouts fabricated from the same coil for a cohesive envelope

Environmentally Conscious Roofing Solutions

Sustainability drives many homeowners’ decisions. Metal roofing inherently supports green building objectives, and HEP enhances those attributes through thoughtful practices.

Recycled Content

Steel and aluminum roofing contain up to 35 % post-consumer material. At the end of service life, panels are 100 % recyclable, diverting waste from Montgomery County landfills.

Cool Roof Coatings

Reflective coatings carry Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) values compliant with ENERGY STAR® guidelines, reducing urban heat island effects across Dayton’s metropolitan core.

Advanced Underlayment Technologies

The underlayment is the hidden champion of any roofing system. HEP offers cutting-edge membranes that greatly exceed code-minimum standards.

  • Self-adhered ice and water shields form watertight seals around nail penetrations
  • Ventilated synthetic sheets reduce heat buildup between deck and panels
  • High-temperature ratings (up to 265 °F) prevent degradation beneath dark-colored metal

Insulation Strategies for Energy Optimization

Metal roofing pairs exceptionally well with modern insulation methods that improve whole-house efficiency. HEP’s crews work closely with energy auditors to select the optimal configuration.

Above-Deck Rigid Insulation

  • Continuous polyisocyanurate boards break thermal bridges, delivering consistent R-values
  • Tapered systems tailor slope correction on low-pitch sections

Spray-Foam Applications

  • Closed-cell foam sprayed from the attic side air-seals junctions between sheathing panels
  • Adds structural rigidity while discouraging condensation under metal decks

Ventilation Best Practices

Proper airflow is non-negotiable for roof longevity. HEP applies a balanced ventilation formula:

  1. Intake vents at soffits introduce cool, dry air
  2. Continuous ridge vents discharge warm, moist air
  3. Baffle systems maintain clear air pathways even when insulation is upgraded

This triad prevents condensation, curbs mold growth, and maintains shingle-coated sections adjacent to metal additions.

Hail Resistance and Severe Weather Performance

Ohio’s spring storms can unleash hailstones exceeding 1.5 inches. Metal roofing’s inherent toughness earns some of the highest impact ratings in the industry.

  • UL 2218 Class IV certification demonstrates panels withstand 2-inch steel ball impacts at 20 feet
  • Dent-resistant profiles with deeper ribs disperse kinetic energy
  • Coatings formulated with ceramic granules mitigate cosmetic scuffing from ice pellets

Acoustic Treatments for Interior Comfort

While modern metal roofs are not inherently noisy, HEP incorporates additional sound-damping layers when requested. Options include:

  • Acoustical underlayments infused with butyl rubber
  • Mineral-wool insulation installed atop ceiling gypsum
  • Resilient channel systems decoupling interior drywall from framing

Code Compliance and Permit Navigation in Dayton

Navigating municipal requirements can be daunting. HEP eliminates uncertainty through:

Owners can preserve full warranty value by following routine maintenance guidelines, documenting any storm events, and avoiding unauthorized roof penetrations.

Seasonal Care and Monitoring Schedule

HEP supplies every client with a roof notebook outlining recommended inspections aligned with Dayton’s climate.

  • Early Spring: Check for ice-dam residues and clear gutters ahead of thunderstorm season
  • Mid-Summer: Visual scan for hail impacts after severe weather watches
  • Late Fall: Remove leaves from valleys and inspect snow guards before the first freeze

By integrating these simple tasks into household routines, homeowners ensure their metal roofs perform to engineered expectations.

Myths About Metal Roofing Debunked

Misconceptions persist, but factual data shows the tangible superiority of HEP’s metal systems.

Noise: Modern underlayments and attic insulation render rain impact sound comparable to asphalt roofs.
Lightning Attraction: Metal roofs do not increase strike probability; they safely disperse electrical energy when properly grounded.
Rust Concerns: Galvalume and Kynar-coated panels resist corrosion for decades under Midwestern conditions.

By addressing these myths, Dayton homeowners gain confidence in choosing a roof that merges durability, beauty, and environmental stewardship—hallmarks of every HEP roofing project undertaken in the Gem City.
