What our customers say

UPDATING THIS REVIEW** Will turned out to be even better than I originally noted. He returned to inform me that my new roof was put down without removing any of the boards below it -- so turned out my problem wasn't related to the roofing job, and in that case, it was going to need to be something I resolved. Since my roof is under warranty, nobody else could fix the problem except for HEP without voiding my warranty. I'm a working, single mom and this year has been so expensive due to home repairs and such. Financially, it's a struggle. Due to being overwhelmed by the news of having yet ANOTHER repair I need to come out of pocket for -- knowing that I really don't have much money to fork out in one sitting -- I honestly got a little emotional. Will proceeded to reach out to get a price for me, and as I expected, the price was more than I had. I inquired about adding the balance to my current finance agreement, but since it had been over 60 days -- that wasn't possible. So I told Will I wouldn't be able to do it. I expected him to basically say okay & leave, but he persisted trying to find an option that was going to work for me. He reached out to another guy (a boss or management of some type, I think), and on my behalf, pleaded for an option. They were able to work something out for me & it really meant a lot to have him persist like that. I definitely appreciate Will (and the management individual that has dealt with me at my worst multiple times now). Definitely have a better overall view of HEP as a whole now. I didn't feel like I was being taken advantage of. I didn't feel like I was being sold something because I didn't know any better. It felt like a real human experience, and I definitely am appreciative!

HEP is by far one of the best companies, of any kind, I've ever dealt with. We've had HEP replace our HVAC system and just signed contracts with them for some major plumbing repair and a new roof. In our experience with HEP, we've found that they do everything, and they do everything really well. Which is great for us because we don't have to waste any time going through the giant pain process of finding contractors and then finding out if we can trust them. With HEP, the whole experience is like working with your brothers and sisters. Everyone we've met has gone out of their way to make us feel like we're part of their family. To me, the kind of quality service you get from that kind of a business relationship is worth its weight in gold. Thank you, HEP!

Overview of HEP’s Specialization

HEP brings precision craftsmanship to every metal roofing project in Chattanooga, delivering customized systems engineered for longevity, energy efficiency, and aesthetic appeal. By combining advanced fabrication techniques with deep knowledge of local building codes, the team ensures each roof meets exacting performance standards while complementing the architectural character of the property.

Understanding Chattanooga Climate and Roof Demands

Chattanooga’s climate presents a unique mix of high humidity, frequent rainfall, and seasonal temperature swings. Metal roofing installed by HEP is designed to excel under these conditions, resisting corrosion, managing thermal expansion, and providing dependable protection against sudden storm events. Whether the structure sits atop Missionary Ridge or overlooks the Tennessee River, HEP specifies metal roofing assemblies tuned to the area’s microclimates and wind zones.

Benefits of Metal Roofing for Chattanooga Homes and Businesses

Superior Durability

A properly installed metal roof can last 50 years or more. The steel and aluminum alloys selected by HEP come with factory-applied coatings that resist rust, fading, and chalking even in Chattanooga’s humid environment. This long service life minimizes replacement cycles and reduces disruption to homeowners and facility managers alike.

Energy Efficiency and Cost-Savings

Reflective pigments and cool-roof coatings built into modern metal panels deflect a significant portion of solar radiation. By lowering attic temperatures, these surfaces help HVAC systems operate more efficiently during muggy southern summers. Over the lifetime of the roof, building owners typically experience notable reductions in cooling demand.

Low Maintenance

Unlike asphalt shingles that can shed granules, warp, or crack, metal roofing requires only occasional inspection and debris removal. Fasteners, sealants, and flashings remain stable for extended periods, and periodic cleaning restores original luster without specialized chemicals.

Fire Resistance and Safety

Non-combustible metal panels add a critical layer of fire protection, especially in wooded areas around Lookout Mountain and Signal Mountain where brush fires can ignite. HEP’s installations meet Class A fire ratings, providing peace of mind to property owners.

Sustainable Construction

Metal roofing contains a high percentage of recycled content and is 100 % recyclable at the end of its life. Selecting metal instead of disposable petroleum-based shingles reduces landfill waste and helps projects achieve green building credits.

The HEP Metal Roofing Process

Initial Roof Inspection and Assessment

Experienced inspectors document roof geometry, substrate condition, attic ventilation, and code considerations. Using drones and moisture scanners, they create a comprehensive baseline report that guides decisions on material selection and installation method.

Material Selection Tailored to Each Structure

HEP collaborates with property owners to choose panel styles—standing seam, corrugated, shingle-style, or stone-coated—and metal types such as galvanized steel, Galvalume, aluminum, copper, or zinc. Color palettes are reviewed under natural light to confirm visual harmony with siding, brick, and trim.

Precise Measurement and Custom Fabrication

Digital measurement tools capture exact dimensions, enabling panels, ridge caps, and flashings to be fabricated with millimeter accuracy. This precision reduces onsite cutting, speeds installation, and minimizes waste.

Professional Installation Practices

Certified installers stage materials, implement safety fall protection systems, and remove existing roofing when applicable. Underlayment, high-temp ice-and-water shields, and breathable membranes are applied according to manufacturer guidelines. Panels are then secured using concealed fasteners or exposed screw systems engineered for wind uplift resistance.

Final Inspection and Cleanup

Quality control specialists perform infrared scans to confirm seal integrity, inspect fastener alignment, and verify color consistency. Job sites are cleaned thoroughly, magnetic rollers collect stray metal debris, and a written warranty package is issued.

Types of Metal Roofing Materials Available Through HEP

Standing Seam Metal Roofing

Continuous panels with raised interlocking seams create a sleek appearance and exceptional weatherproofing. Ideal for both low-slope and steep-slope applications, standing seam roofs offer:

  • Concealed fasteners that reduce leak points
  • Compatibility with integrated solar panel clamps
  • Expansion clips for thermal movement

Metal Shingles and Shakes

Stamped panels mimic the texture of wood shakes or slate while delivering the resilience of steel or aluminum. Interlocking edges fortify resistance to wind uplift and driving rain common in Chattanooga’s summer storms.

Corrugated Metal Panels

Featuring classic sinusoidal waves, corrugated profiles provide economic coverage for agricultural buildings, workshops, and contemporary homes desiring industrial flair. Their deep ribs improve load-bearing capacity and channel water efficiently during heavy downpours.

Stone-Coated Steel

A fusion of steel cores and ceramic granules produces panels that resemble traditional shingles while adding impact durability. The granular surface diffuses sunlight, softening roof glare and blending with neighborhood aesthetics.

Copper and Zinc Options

Architectural copper patinas over time, developing a rich verdigris finish prized for historic restorations or statement projects. Zinc offers self-healing characteristics that conceal scratches and extend lifespan beyond 80 years when properly installed.

Why Select HEP for Metal Roofing in Chattanooga

Local Expertise

HEP’s project managers navigate Hamilton County permitting, HOA architectural review processes, and local inspection protocols with ease, streamlining project approvals.

Manufacturer Training and Certifications

Technicians participate in ongoing factory education covering panel roll-forming, clip spacing, and seam-locking best practices. These credentials authorize HEP to register enhanced warranty coverage direct from the metal manufacturers.

Safety-First Culture

Matching Metal Roofing to Architectural Styles in Chattanooga

Traditional Southern Homes

Raised-seam metal roofs painted in subtle grays or historic reds complement wraparound porches and columned facades. Curved metal accents can be fabricated for turret roofs and bay windows.

Modern Residential Builds

Flat-lock panels and matte black finishes create crisp lines that align with minimalist exteriors, glass walls, and mixed material cladding.

Historic Preservation Projects

Where strict preservation guidelines govern, HEP replicates original profiles using terne-coated stainless or patinated copper, ensuring modern performance without sacrificing period authenticity.

Commercial and Industrial Facilities

Long-span, high-rib metal panels deliver structural strength to warehouses, retail centers, and light manufacturing plants. Cool-roof coatings reduce heat gain across expansive roof areas.

Environmental Advantages of Choosing Metal Roofing with HEP

Recyclable Materials

Steel and aluminum roofs can be recycled indefinitely without degrading material properties, diverting significant tonnage from landfills.

Cool Roof Technologies

Reflective pigments and emissive coatings lower roof surface temperatures, mitigating urban heat island effects in densely developed Chattanooga neighborhoods.

Solar Integration Compatibility

Standing seam panels accept panel-mounted clamps that attach photovoltaic arrays without penetrating the roof, preserving warranty coverage and waterproof integrity.

Reduced Landfill Waste

Metal roofs’ extended lifespan minimizes tear-off frequency, reducing the volume of discarded shingles and underlayment entering municipal waste streams.

Maintenance Tips and Life Expectancy Enhancement

Routine Inspection Schedule

Semi-annual inspections—especially after severe storms—identify loose fasteners, displaced vent boots, or minor panel damage before problems escalate.

Gutter and Debris Management

Removing leaves, twigs, and seed pods from valleys and gutters prevents water back-up that can compromise underlayment and encourage corrosion at cut edges.

Fastener and Sealant Checks

HEP advises retightening exposed fasteners every five to seven years and reapplying high-quality sealants around penetrations to maintain peak water resistance.

Protective Coatings and Repainting

Factory applied PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) finishes rarely require repainting, but optional clear acrylic topcoats can extend color vibrancy where roofs face intense UV exposure.

Weather Resilience: Metal Roofing vs. Chattanooga’s Climate Challenges

Heavy Rain and Humidity

Raised seams and interlocking panel edges channel water into gutters efficiently, preventing ponding even during torrential summer downpours. Anti-capillary grooves provide extra defense against wind-driven rain.

High Winds and Tornado Threats

Proper clip spacing and engineered fastening patterns empower metal roofs to withstand wind speeds exceeding local code requirements. Continuous panel lengths reduce uplift at eaves and ridges.

Sun Exposure and Thermal Cycling

High-performance paint systems reflect infrared radiation and resist chalking. Expansion clips permit panels to move along their length, preventing oil-canning and fastener fatigue.

Seasonal Temperature Fluctuations

Thermal breaks, attic ventilation, and breathable synthetic underlayments mitigate condensation risk during cooler winter mornings, protecting the roof deck from moisture-related damage.

Enhancing Property Value Through Metal Roofing

Curb Appeal Upgrades

Sleek lines, bold colors, and textured finishes elevate the visual impression of homes and commercial buildings, offering distinctive character that stands apart from conventional asphalt roofs.

Insurance Advantages

Many insurers recognize the fire-resistant and impact-resistant qualities of metal roofing, resulting in potential premium reductions for policyholders.

Long-Term Return on Investment

Although initial material and labor inputs can be higher, the extended lifespan, energy savings, and reduced maintenance yield favorable lifecycle cost comparisons.
