What our customers say

Ruben was excellent when I was having drain issues. He was quick, explained everything throughly, and made sure I knew what my options were. A wonderful experience I just put an offer in on a home and wanted someone to check the place out for me and HEP was there! Not only was every technician that came out friendly, but they made sure I understood everything that was being told to me! They gave me clear and honest opinions about my AC, Roof, and electrical. They told me what was wrong, how to fix it, an approximate on how much it would be and even advice to make sure I get the most out of my repair life. I'm a first time home buyer and they made me feel confident enough about the condition of my home to be able to make a sound decision on it. I'll recommend them to everyone I know!

HEP was prompt in getting our job estimated and starting work. We had them replace a patio roof and perform some other minor repairs on the roof. They came out on Saturday, and Jason walked through everything, explaining the rationale behind his recommendations. They were exactly in line with existing recommendations from our home inspection, so I had confidence that he was giving his honest opinion and not just trying to upsell. Due to a clerical error, they removed our entire roof by accident, but replaced it at no cost. They immediately notified me when this happened and got it rectified right away. They were honest and transparent through the whole process. After the completion of the work, I notified them of a couple of punch list items and they knocked them out quickly without me having to pester or make a scene like you would with a less reputable contractor. This is the kind of contractor that you keep around. Reliable, easy to contact, responsive, and honest. I am a very independent DIYer, but if I can't do it, my first call will definitely be to HEP. . Thanks Jason and everyone at HEP.

Due to a miscommunication I need to apologize for a negative review I left. Hep didn't call codes, but I imagine that codes inspector is working himself to the bone, and instead of hearing "rough-in inspection" I heard "complaint" and I am so very sorry I was so reactive. It's been over a year since the work was done and we've had zero leaks! Job well done y'all!

We have used HEP in the past for plumbing and also some roof issues. Because of this, they offered us a free roof inspection. The tech (Tim Lawson) that came out was on time (actually a little earlier than expected), was very helpful and knowledgeable. He took his time to explain the repairs that we will be needing to our roof, offered affordable pricing and was very professional. I would recommend this company as they are fair in price and have knowledgeable, friendly , professional employees. Thanks HEP and Tim Lawson.

Professional Metal Roofing Services in Crossville

HEP delivers comprehensive metal roofing solutions tailored to the unique environment of Crossville, Tennessee. Nestled on the Cumberland Plateau, the city experiences rapid weather shifts, significant annual rainfall, and intense summer sun—conditions that demand a roofing system capable of withstanding thermal expansion, wind-driven precipitation, and ultraviolet exposure. HEP’s specialized teams combine advanced installation techniques with premium metal panels to create roofs that outperform traditional materials in longevity, energy efficiency, and structural integrity. Every project is approached with a focus on craftsmanship, code compliance, and aesthetic harmony, ensuring that homes and businesses throughout Crossville benefit from a roof engineered for the long haul.

Why Metal Roofing Excels in the Cumberland Plateau Climate

Crossville’s elevation and topography produce a microclimate characterized by sudden temperature swings and occasional heavy snow. Metal roofing’s low water absorption rate prevents freeze-thaw damage, while its interlocking profiles provide superior wind uplift resistance along ridge lines frequently exposed to gusty plateau winds. Unlike asphalt, which can degrade under prolonged UV exposure, coated metal panels reflect a substantial portion of solar radiation, keeping attic spaces cooler on hot midsummer afternoons. The non-porous surface also discourages moss growth common in shaded, humid areas, reducing maintenance needs in wooded neighborhoods around Lake Tansi and Fairfield Glade.

Key Benefits Delivered by HEP Metal Roofing

  • Enhanced service life frequently exceeding 50 years
  • Class A fire rating, providing added protection in wildland-urban interface zones
  • Lightweight construction that reduces structural load on aging rafters
  • Broad palette of colors and profiles to match Craftsman, ranch, or contemporary architecture
  • Compatibility with rainwater harvesting systems essential for off-grid properties in rural Cumberland County

Comprehensive Service Process

HEP structures each roofing project through a multi-phase workflow designed to maintain transparency, minimize disruption, and deliver superior results.

Initial Roof Inspection and Consultation

Certified roofing specialists conduct a detailed assessment of existing decking, underlayment, flashing, and ventilation. Moisture meters, infrared cameras, and drone photography document problem areas such as delamination, warped sheathing, or ice-dam residue. Findings are compiled into a digital report outlining repair recommendations, material options, and projected timelines.

Precision Fabrication and Material Selection

Once scope and aesthetics are finalized, panels are fabricated to custom lengths, reducing on-site seaming and potential leak points. HEP sources 24-gauge Galvalume and aluminum substrates with Kynar 500 or SMP coatings, chosen according to client color preference, salt exposure, and budget parameters. Trim accessories—ridge caps, gable flashing, and gutter fascia—are bent to exact specifications in the company’s sheet-metal shop, ensuring seamless visual integration.

Expert Installation Techniques

Installation crews follow manufacturer guidelines for panel fastening intervals, clip placement, and thermal expansion allowances. Edge metal is anchored using stainless-steel ring-shank nails to maintain pull-out resistance during wind events. Synthetic underlayment with a 270-degree melt point is laid to accommodate high roof temperatures often recorded in Crossville’s summer sun. Valley pans are hemmed and lock-folded instead of caulk-dependent to safeguard vulnerable low-slope intersections.

Post-Installation Support and Maintenance

Upon completion, a punch-list walk-through verifies trim alignment, fastener torque, and sealant coverage. Homeowners receive a maintenance schedule detailing inspection intervals, debris removal protocols, and guidelines for rooftop accessory installation such as satellite dishes or solar arrays. HEP retains digital project files—including panel batch numbers—in an internal database, simplifying future repairs or expansions.

Metal Roofing Materials Offered

Diverse architectural styles across Crossville—ranging from rustic cabins to modern industrial warehouses—necessitate an array of metal roofing systems. HEP stocks and installs several high-performing configurations.

Standing Seam Systems

Mechanically seamed and snap-lock standing seam panels feature concealed fasteners protected from weather exposure. The raised rib design channels water away from underlayment, making these systems ideal for the heavy rainfall that can pound the plateau during spring storms. Panel widths of 12″–18″ permit design flexibility, while optional clip systems allow for thermal float on longer runs.

Metal Shingles and Tiles

Stone-coated steel tiles emulate the appearance of classic cedar shake or traditional slate while supplying the impact resistance crucial in hail-prone areas north of the city. These interlocking modules suit steep-slope roofs common in Crossville’s hillside subdivisions, offering texture and shadow lines without compromising durability.

Corrugated Panel Solutions

For agricultural buildings, barns, and workshops scattered along U.S. Route 127, corrugated panels provide an economical yet rugged choice. The deep sine-wave pattern increases structural strength, spanning greater distances with minimal sub-framing. Optional translucent panels can be integrated for natural daylighting in equipment sheds.

Specialty Coatings and Finishes

HEP partners with coil coaters that incorporate infrared-reflective pigments, boosting solar reflectance index (SRI) values without limiting dark-hued aesthetics. Matte finishes reduce glare—an important consideration in homes overlooking golf courses—while textured embossing hides small surface imperfections that may develop over decades of service.

Energy Efficiency and Environmental Impact

Reflectivity and Cooling Savings

Cool-roof certified metal panels reflect up to 70 % of solar energy, decreasing attic temperatures by as much as 30 °F on peak summer days. Homeowners often observe reduced strain on HVAC systems, translating into lower utility bills and prolonged equipment lifespan. In commercial facilities, diminished cooling loads free electrical capacity for process equipment or lighting upgrades.

Recyclability and Sustainable Sourcing

Steel and aluminum roofing contain a high percentage of post-consumer content, and at end of life they can be fully recycled without down-cycling. HEP’s procurement practices emphasize domestic mills adhering to ISO 14001 environmental management standards, reducing transport emissions and supporting regional industry.

HEP's Commitment to Safety and Compliance

OSHA-Adherent Job Sites

Crews utilize personal fall arrest systems, edge guardrails, and debris containment nets. Daily toolbox meetings address specific hazards like slippery morning dew or proximity to overhead service lines. Documentation of equipment inspections and worker certifications remains on site, ready for unannounced regulatory audits.

Building Code Expertise in Crossville

HEP navigates permitting requirements enforced by the Crossville Building Department, ensuring adherence to the International Residential Code (IRC) and International Building Code (IBC) amendments adopted by Cumberland County. Wind coverage zones are factored into fastener schedules, while ice barrier underlayment is installed per local frost-line guidelines.

Aesthetic Versatility for Residential and Commercial Structures

Color Palettes that Complement Crossville Architecture

From muted earth tones blending with Cumberland sandstone to vibrant barn reds echoing Appalachian heritage, HEP’s color chart spans more than 40 shades. Reflective clear coats maintain colorfastness, preserving curb appeal along Main Street and in gated communities alike.

Architectural Profiles for Sloped and Low-Slope Roofs

Whether topping a 12:12 pitched Victorian or a 1:12 commercial warehouse annex, HEP selects panel geometries engineered for each slope range. Symmetrical standing seam profiles enable onsite replacement of individual panels without dismantling adjacent sections—an advantage for institutional buildings requiring minimal downtime.

Durability Against Regional Weather Hazards

High Wind Uplift Resistance

Properly clipped standing seam assemblies withstand uplift pressures exceeding 120 psf, crucial for structures perched on plateau ridges where wind speeds intensify. Independent lab tests verify performance to ASTM E1592 standards.

Superior Snow-Shedding Capabilities

Smooth metal surfaces discourage snow accumulation, allowing gravity to shed loads before weight thresholds are breached. Where pedestrian traffic or landscape features lie beneath eaves, HEP installs engineered snow-retention systems to control sliding masses safely.

Fire Resistance in Wildland-Urban Interface Zones

Metal roofing’s non-combustible rating serves as a first line of defense when brush fires threaten outskirts of Crossville. Ember infiltration is thwarted by tight panel seams and non-flammable underlayment choices.

Warranty Coverage and Long-Term Value

Material Warranties

Factory-backed warranties typically span 30–45 years against coating chalk and fade, providing owners confidence that color vibrancy will persist despite Crossville’s fluctuating temperatures and UV exposure.

Workmanship Protection

HEP supplements manufacturer warranties with multi-year labor coverage certified through regular installer training, site audits, and documented best practices. This unified warranty structure simplifies claims and preserves asset value for future property transactions.

Routine Maintenance Programs

Preventive maintenance extends metal roof lifespan beyond published averages. HEP schedules annual or biannual inspections to clear debris from valleys, verify fastener torque, and apply sealant touch-ups where movement may have occurred at penetrations. Gutter cleaning ensures unobstructed runoff, preventing water back-up beneath panels during torrential summer downpours.

Preparing a Property for Metal Roof Installation

Proper staging accelerates installation and safeguards landscaping. HEP advises clearing driveway access for material delivery, trimming overhanging limbs to facilitate panel positioning, and relocating fragile garden features. In historic districts, temporary protective sheeting shields brick façades from falling granules as old shingles are removed.

Seamless Integration with Solar Panels and Accessories

Modern rib-clamp mounting systems allow photovoltaic arrays to be attached without roof penetrations, preserving watertight integrity. HEP coordinates flashing for vent pipes, skylights, and HVAC curbs, ensuring each accessory aligns with the roof’s expansion-contraction characteristics.

Noise, Insulation, and Comfort Considerations

Contrary to common misconception, properly installed metal roofs with solid decking and high-density underlayment achieve sound attenuation comparable to shingle assemblies. In attics, HEP can incorporate rigid polyiso or spray-foam insulation layers that simultaneously enhance thermal resistance and deaden impact noise from hard rain.

Common Misconceptions About Metal Roofing

  • “Metal roofs attract lightning.” Metal merely conducts lightning safely to ground when integrated with a proper system; attraction is a function of height and location, not material.
  • “They rust quickly.” Modern Galvalume and aluminum substrates resist corrosion for decades, especially with factory-applied PVDF coatings.
  • “Metal roofs make homes cold in winter.” Reflectivity works predominantly on radiant heat; conductive insulation beneath panels maintains interior warmth.

Signs That Indicate a Roof May Need Replacement

  • Curling or missing shingles exposing decking
  • Persistent attic leaks after isolated repairs
  • Moss invasion indicating trapped moisture
  • Sagging valleys or ridge lines evidencing structural fatigue
  • Excessive granule loss clogging gutters and downspouts

Homeowners observing these warning signals often opt for metal as a long-term upgrade rather than recurring patchwork on aging asphalt systems.

HEP's Local Expertise in Crossville Neighborhoods

Knowledge of Subdivisions and Rural Properties

From the established Brookhaven community near Centennial Park to spacious homesteads off Lantana Road, HEP adapts logistics, equipment, and design aesthetics to match neighborhood covenants and rural site conditions. Crews are versed in navigating narrow mountain roads, ensuring materials arrive on schedule without damaging private drives.

Project Timeline Expectations

Typical single-family installations in Crossville run five to seven working days, depending on roof complexity and weather delays. Tear-off, decking repair, underlayment placement, panel installation, and trim work progress according to a Gantt chart shared with property owners, fostering clarity and minimizing surprises.

Cleanup and Site Restoration Practices

HEP deploys magnetic sweepers daily to capture stray fasteners, protecting lawn equipment and pet paws. Dumpsters are positioned on protective boarding to prevent driveway scarring. Upon completion, gutters are flushed, and blower tools clear metal shavings from shrubbery and patios, leaving the property as pristine as it was found.

Sustainable Construction Practices

Jobsite recycling stations separate old asphalt shingles, metal scraps, and packaging materials. When feasible, discarded shingles are routed to asphalt plants for road-bed aggregate, closing the material loop and diverting waste from Middle Tennessee landfills.

Enhancing Property Value with Metal Roofing

Real estate data consistently indicates that metal roofs boost resale potential by signaling high-quality construction and lowered future maintenance costs. Buyers appreciate transferable warranties, energy savings, and the distinctive curb appeal that sets a property apart in a competitive market. With its proven performance in Crossville’s demanding environment, a metal roof installed by HEP becomes a tangible asset that underscores durability, efficiency, and design sophistication.
