FAQs
How long are the warranties on your metal roofing systems in Washburn?
Our metal panels carry a 40-year manufacturer warranty against paint fade, chalking, cracking, and perforation, plus a 25-year warranty against base-metal corrosion. In addition, we include a lifetime (as long as you own the home) workmanship warranty that covers installation-related leaks and fastener issues. Combined, these warranties protect your roof well beyond the 20–25 year lifespan of a typical asphalt roof.
Whatc's the difference between the manufacturer warranty and your workmanship warranty?
The manufacturer warranty is provided by the panel and coating supplier and covers product defects—things like premature paint failure, rust-through, or structural flaws in the steel. Our workmanship warranty is provided by our company and covers anything tied to the quality of the installation: fastener placement, panel alignment, flashing details, and watertightness around penetrations. If a problem arises from how the roof was installed, we fix it at no cost; if the problem arises from the metal or coating itself, the manufacturer supplies replacement panels or coating per the terms of its warranty.
Are the warranties transferable if I sell my home?
Yes. Both the manufacturer and workmanship warranties are fully transferable one time within the first 10 years after the installation date. To transfer, the new owner simply submits a transfer form and proof of ownership to us within 60 days of closing. Transferability adds real resale value because the next owner continues to benefit from the remaining warranty term.
Do I have to register my warranty?
We take care of the initial registration for you when the job is completed. Youc'll receive a packet by mail and email containing your signed workmanship certificate, the manufacturerc's warranty document, and instructions for online access to both. Please store these documents with your home records. If you ever misplace them, contact our office and wec'll issue replacements.
What actions could void my metal roof warranty?
Common warranty-voiding actions include: (1) allowing untrained contractors to walk on or modify the roof, (2) drilling or screwing through panels without approved fasteners, (3) using harsh chemicals or pressure-washing above 2,500 psi, (4) failing to remove debris that traps moisture, and (5) attaching satellite dishes or solar arrays without proper standoff brackets. Always call us first before any rooftop work; wec'll advise you or schedule a technician to protect your coverage.
Does Washburnc's climate—snow, wind, and hail—affect the warranty?
Our panels are rated to withstand 140 mph winds and have a Class 4 impact rating against hail, both of which exceed local code requirements for Washburn. Snow loads are addressed in our engineering calculations and fastening schedule. Neither wind nor snow voids the warranty as long as the roof was installed per our specs. Hail damage that dents—but doesnc't breach—the coating is considered cosmetic; structural or perforation damage caused by hail 2 inches or larger is covered under the manufacturerc's limited hail warranty. We also offer optional storm-damage rider coverage if you want additional peace of mind.
