What exactly is a workmanship warranty for roofing and how is it different from the manufacturer’s material warranty?
A workmanship warranty covers the quality of the labor provided by our Sweetwater roofing team—how your shingles, flashing, vents, and other components were installed. If a leak or other problem occurs because something was installed incorrectly, we return and fix it at no charge. A manufacturer’s material warranty, on the other hand, is issued by the shingle or membrane producer and protects you if those products fail prematurely due to factory defects. Both work together, but only a workmanship warranty protects against installation errors.
How long does our Roofing Done Right workmanship warranty last?
Every residential roof we install in Sweetwater comes with a 10-year transferable workmanship warranty. For the first decade after installation, you have full labor coverage for any defect that can be traced back to our installation practices. Some premium systems qualify for extended coverage up to 25 years when installed to enhanced manufacturer specifications—ask your estimator for details.
What issues are covered under the workmanship warranty?
Coverage includes leaks caused by improperly fastened shingles, faulty flashing around chimneys or skylights, ridge or hip cap misalignment, underlayment installation errors, and ventilation components we installed. It does NOT cover damage from hail, wind beyond the product’s rated limits, fallen tree limbs, foot traffic from other contractors, or lack of maintenance (e.g., clogged gutters). Those types of damage are usually addressed by your homeowner’s insurance or the manufacturer’s wind/hail warranties.
How do I file a workmanship warranty claim if I notice a leak?
Call our Sweetwater office or submit the online warranty request form. We’ll schedule an inspection—typically within 48 hours for leaks and within 5 business days for non-emergencies. Our technician will determine whether the issue is workmanship-related. If it is, repairs are completed at no cost to you. If the problem stems from storm damage or material failure, we’ll document everything so you can pursue an insurance or manufacturer claim and we can handle the repair once approved.
Is the workmanship warranty transferable if I sell my home?
Yes. Our standard 10-year workmanship warranty is fully transferable one time within the original coverage period. The new homeowner simply needs to notify us in writing within 60 days of closing. Transferability is a strong selling point, adding value and peace of mind for potential buyers in the Sweetwater market.
Does the workmanship warranty cost extra and do I need annual inspections to keep it valid?
There is no separate fee—the workmanship warranty is included in every Roofing Done Right installation quote.
