FAQs

What types of warranties are available with a roof replacement?

Our roof replacement packages typically include two warranties: a Manufacturer’s Material Warranty and our own Workmanship Warranty. The material warranty—often 30, 40, or even 50 years—covers defects in shingles, underlayment, and accessory components supplied by the manufacturer. Our 10-year transferable workmanship warranty covers installation-related issues such as leaks caused by improper flashing, fastener placement, or ventilation.

How long does the warranty actually last, and does it cover the entire roof system?

The manufacturer’s material warranty lasts as long as the stated term (up to lifetime on select shingle lines) and covers the entire roof system when installed as a full system with approved accessories. For the first 10–15 years, coverage is non-prorated, meaning 100 % of material and labor costs are covered for manufacturing defects. After that, coverage becomes prorated based on age. Our workmanship warranty remains in full effect for the full 10 years without proration.

Is the warranty transferable if I sell my home?

Yes. Both our workmanship warranty and most manufacturer warranties can be transferred once to the next homeowner at no cost within the first 10 years. To transfer, the new owner must submit a simple form and proof of purchase within 60 days of closing. Transferability adds resale value because buyers know the roof is still protected.

What voids or limits the roof warranty?

Common warranty-voiding conditions include unauthorized roof alterations, installation of satellite dishes without proper hardware, inadequate attic ventilation, and failure to perform basic maintenance such as cleaning gutters. Extreme acts of nature—hail, tornadoes, or hurricane-force winds—are excluded but may be covered by homeowner’s insurance. Following our semi-annual inspection recommendations keeps your warranty intact.

How do I file a claim if I believe there is a covered problem?

Contact us first. We’ll schedule an on-site inspection to verify whether the issue is rooted in materials or workmanship. If it’s a material defect, we submit documentation, photos, and required samples to the manufacturer on your behalf. For workmanship issues, we authorize repairs immediately at no cost to you, usually within 5 business days. All paperwork is handled electronically so you can track claim status online.

Does a stronger warranty increase the project cost?

Surprisingly, no. When we install the full certified roof system, manufacturers automatically upgrade your warranty at little to no additional material cost, and our workmanship warranty is included in every full-roof replacement. Because our crews are factory-trained, we don’t need to charge extra for meeting the higher installation standards required for enhanced coverage, so you receive premium protection without a price premium.
