FAQs

What types of warranties are available for your roofing systems in Rockwood?

Every roof we install in Rockwood is covered by two separate warranties: 1) the manufacturer’s material warranty, which protects you against factory defects in the shingles, underlayments, and ventilation components, and 2) our own workmanship warranty, which covers the quality of the installation itself. You can choose from several warranty tiers—Standard, Enhanced, and Platinum—depending on the shingle line and extras you select at the time of purchase.

How long does the manufacturer’s warranty last, and what does “lifetime” really mean?

Most leading shingle brands now advertise a “lifetime” warranty, but the coverage is typically divided into two parts. The first 10–15 years are non-prorated, meaning the manufacturer will supply 100 % of the replacement materials (and sometimes contribute toward labor). After that, the coverage becomes prorated each year until it tops out at 40–50 years, at which point it ends. In other words, the roof is warranted for as long as you own your Rockwood home or for 40–50 years, whichever comes first, but the dollar value of the coverage decreases after the initial non-prorated period.

Is the roofing warranty transferable if I sell my Rockwood home?

Yes. All of our major shingle manufacturers allow a one-time transfer within the first 10 years of installation, provided the new owner completes the transfer form within 60 days of closing. Our workmanship warranty is also transferable for the remaining term. This can be a valuable selling point because the new owner gets the same peace of mind you enjoyed.

What kinds of damage are NOT covered by the warranty?

Neither the material nor workmanship warranties cover problems caused by acts of nature (hail larger than 2", tornadoes, extreme winds beyond the shingle’s rated limit), improper home maintenance (e.g., clogged gutters causing ice dams), foot traffic, or alterations by other contractors. Mold, interior damage, and pre-existing structural issues are likewise excluded. For storm-related issues, we recommend supplementing your coverage with a homeowner’s insurance policy that includes full-replacement roof protection.

How do I register my roof and file a warranty claim if something goes wrong?

We take care of the initial registration for you and give you a confirmation certificate to keep with your records. If you ever need to file a claim, simply call our Rockwood office or use the online claim form on our website. We will schedule an inspection within two business days, document the issue with photos, and submit the claim package to the manufacturer on your behalf. Most claims are approved or denied within 2–3 weeks, and we will handle any approved repair or replacement work at no cost to you.

Do you offer additional workmanship coverage or extended protection plans?

Absolutely. Our standard workmanship warranty is 10 years, but you can upgrade to a 25-year or lifetime workmanship plan as part of our Enhanced and Platinum packages. These upgrades add leak-free roof inspections every five years, priority scheduling for storm emergencies, and a labor-only deductible that is capped at $250 for the life of the warranty. All extended plans must be purchased at the time of installation and remain in effect as long as the original materials stay on the roof.
