FAQs
1. What types of warranties do you offer on roofing installations in Philadelphia?
We provide two primary warranty categories: a Lifetime Manufacturer’s Material Warranty and a 25-Year Transferable Workmanship Warranty. The material warranty is backed by the shingle manufacturer and protects you against factory defects such as premature granule loss, blistering, or cracking. Our workmanship warranty—issued directly by Roofing Done Right—covers any installation-related issues such as leaks at flashing points, incorrectly fastened shingles, or poor ventilation setup. Combined, these warranties give you full coverage on both the products we use and the labor we perform.
2. How does your workmanship warranty differ from the manufacturer's material warranty?
The manufacturer’s warranty is limited to product defects and is honored by the shingle producer; if the shingle itself fails under normal conditions, replacement materials are provided (and, with most brands we install, labor reimbursement). By contrast, the workmanship warranty is our promise that the roof was installed according to or exceeding local Philadelphia building codes and the manufacturer’s specifications. If an issue arises because a flashing was improperly sealed or nails were over-driven, we fix it at no cost—including labor, materials, and disposal—regardless of the condition of the shingles themselves.
3. What exactly is covered—and not covered—under your lifetime warranties?
Covered: manufacturing defects in shingles, ridge vents, and underlayments; wind damage up to 130 mph when the roofing system is installed as a complete package; algae resistance for 10–15 years (depending on the shingle line); leaks due to flashing, ventilation, or fastening errors; and any interior damage directly resulting from those leaks. Not covered: Acts of God such as tornadoes above the warranted wind speed, hail larger than 1.75 inches, structural movement of the home (settling, warping), foot traffic damage, or modifications made by other contractors after we finish the roof. Normal aging and cosmetic color change also fall outside warranty scope.
4. How do I file a warranty claim if I notice a problem with my roof?
Call or email our dedicated warranty team at 215-555-ROOF or [email protected]. We will schedule a free on-site inspection within 48 hours. Our technician documents the issue with photos and a written report, then determines whether the problem is material- or workmanship-related. If it’s workmanship, we authorize repairs immediately and typically resolve the issue within one week. If it’s a manufacturer claim, we file all paperwork on your behalf—including proof-of-purchase, lot numbers, and photos—and coordinate directly with the manufacturer’s field rep. You won’t pay any service fees for covered claims.
5. Will my warranties remain valid if I sell my Philadelphia home?
Yes. Both warranties are fully transferable once within the first 15 years at no cost. All you have to do is notify us in writing within 60 days of closing, provide the buyer’s contact information, and we’ll issue an updated certificate. This added protection is a strong selling point that can increase your home’s resale value and reassure prospective buyers that the roof is protected against unexpected expenses.
6. How do your warranties compare with those offered by other Philadelphia roofing contractors?
Many local roofers advertise “lifetime” coverage but, in the fine print, offer only a 5–10 year workmanship warranty. Some even charge a transfer fee when you sell your home. Roofing Done Right’s 25-year workmanship coverage is among the longest in the region, and our no-fee transfer policy is uncommon. Additionally, because we are certified as an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred and GAF Master Elite contractor (top 2% nationwide), we can upgrade manufacturer warranties to true lifetime coverage that is non-prorated for the first 50 years—a level of protection most competitors simply can’t offer.
