Drone Imagery | Roof Inspections | Roofing | Mascot

Harnessing high-resolution drone technology, HEP gives Mascot property owners a smarter way to manage roof health. Our pilots capture crystal-clear aerial images that reveal even the smallest defects, from lifted flashing to hidden storm damage, without anyone needing to set foot on your tiles. You receive a comprehensive digital report—complete with annotated photos and 3D models—so you can make informed maintenance decisions faster, safer and more cost-effectively than traditional roof inspections.

Whether you’re a facility manager looking to schedule preventative work or a homeowner seeking post-hail peace of mind, our turn-around times are measured in hours, not days. HEP handles all CASA flight approvals, minimises disruption to your neighbourhood, and surfaces data you can share instantly with insurers or trades. Book today and discover why Mascot trusts HEP’s drone imagery for the most precise roof inspections in the industry.

FAQs

Why should I choose a drone roof inspection instead of a traditional ladder-and-walk inspection?

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can photograph and scan 100 % of your roof surface—including steep pitches, fragile tiles, skylights and hard-to-reach valleys—without anyone leaving the ground. That means zero fall risk, no damage from foot traffic and minimal disruption to occupants. Because the pilot can capture dozens of ultra-high-resolution images in minutes, you receive a faster turnaround, a more comprehensive data set and, ultimately, a lower overall inspection cost.

What roofing problems can your drones detect?

Our drones carry 4K optical cameras for visible-light imagery and, on request, radiometric thermal sensors. Together they can identify cracked or missing tiles, lifting metal sheets, failed flashing, moss or lichen build-up, clogged gutters, ponding, hail impact, chimney deterioration and early signs of water ingress. Thermal imaging highlights temperature anomalies that often pinpoint hidden leaks or insufficient insulation—issues that are hard to spot from the ground or even during a manual walk-over.

Are drone flights over Mascot legal and safe?

Yes. We are fully certified by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and operate under a ReOC (Remote Operator Certificate). Every mission is logged and flown by a licensed Remote Pilot who performs risk assessments, checks airspace advisories near Sydney Airport and submits a flight plan when required. We also hold $20 million public liability insurance and follow CASA regulations on maximum altitude, visual line-of-sight and safe distances from people and property.

How accurate are the measurements and reports I will receive?

Using GPS-stabilised flight paths and ground control points, we can achieve measurement accuracy within ±2 cm. The imagery is processed through photogrammetry software to generate an orthomosaic map, 3-D model and contour lines. From these data sets we extract roof area, slope, ridge length and pitch calculations that meet insurer and builder documentation standards. All findings are delivered in a written report with annotated images, a link to an interactive 3-D model and CAD-ready files if required.

How long does the inspection take and what is the turnaround time for results?

For an average Mascot residential property the on-site flight lasts 20–30 minutes; larger commercial roofs can take up to 90 minutes. Because no scaffolding or safety rail is needed, setup and pack-down time are minimal. You will receive a preliminary image set the same day, and the full analytical report, 3-D model and recommendations within 48 hours. Urgent storm-damage assessments can be prioritised for 24-hour delivery.

Do I need to be present or prepare anything before the drone inspection?

You do not have to be on site, but access to the yard or roof perimeter must be arranged so our pilot can maintain line-of-sight. Please advise us of any overhead power lines, antennae or pets in the area. Remove loose outdoor furniture that may become a hazard in the rotor wash. For commercial premises we may request recent site plans to optimise flight paths. Beyond that, we handle all regulatory notifications and safety planning.
