A torch-on roof is a multi-layer waterproofing system made from modified bitumen membranes that are fused together with a gas torch. Unlike older pour-and-roll felt, the sheets arrive pre-manufactured with mineral or sanded surfaces and internal reinforcement. The heat welding creates a seamless bond between layers, making the roof far more resistant to standing water, temperature changes and mechanical damage. Because there is little or no hot bitumen handling on site, torch-on is quicker, cleaner and produces fewer odours than traditional built-up felt methods.
